All Dutch stamps online
The Museum for Communication in The Hague has put all Dutch stamps online.
The museum launched the web site Wednesday afternoon at 16.00 hours at www.postzegelontwerpen.nl.
The site contains a collection of over ten thousand postage stamps, designs and proofs, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
It is the first time that the entire Dutch stamp collection can be viewed on the Internet. The stamp archive of The Hague Museum has tens of thousands of stamps and designs.
After obtaining a fund from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science the museum curators worked two years on the digitization and description of the stamps and their original sketches.
The Museum of Communication has all 2657 stamps to date, which are issued in the Netherlands and the overseas territories.
