Amsterdam ranked third in the world for attracting foreign investment projects
Amsterdam has been ranked third in the IBM Global Location Trends 2015 report, rising one place from last year’s position. This report looks at how international cities and nations attract foreign investment projects. London remains number one in the rankings, followed by Paris, which retains its second place. In the 2014 rankings, Amsterdam placed fourth behind Singapore but has risen to a shared third this year.
The Netherlands as a whole has also experienced an upward trend; this year has seen a record 10,500 jobs created as a result of foreign investment. In addition, the Netherlands scores highly in terms of attracting high-value foreign investment, coming sixth in the world in the respective rankings. The most significant countries of origin for these investments this year are the United States and Germany; the most significant sectors being tourism and ICT.
