Dutch children happiest in Europe


Dutch children are the happiest in Europe. This is the result from a study by the University of York in Great Britain carried out among kids in 29 European countries.

The researchers looked at 43 life circumstances that influence happiness, such as infant mortality, obesity and poverty. In each category The Netherlands scored best.

The Netherlands is followed closely by the five Nordic countries: Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark. The children in Latvia, Lithuania and Malta are the unhappiest childeren.

A similar study by UN Children UNICEF carried out two years ago revealed that Dutch kids are the happiest of all children in the developed world.

The top ten happiest children in Europe: 1. Netherlands 2. Sweden 3. Norway 4. Iceland 5. Finland 6. Denmark 7. Slovenia 8. Germany 9. Ireland 10. Luxembourg.
