Dutch Households Pay Less on Energy Bill
Dutch Households save 25 euro a month on energy bill. As from July, the average Dutch household pays 25 euro less on gas and electricity each month than in the first six months of 2009, mainly as a result of the lower gas price. The monthly energy bill is now down to 139 euro.
Gas supply costs were seriously reduced by one third relative to January 2009. Electricity also became a bit cheaper. Gas supply costs in particular largely depend on the price of oil, which plummeted in the latter half of last year. As energy is bought in advance, the slump in oil prices will not be reflected in the energy bill immediately. Transport costs and energy tax did not change compared to January.
