The Netherlands lags behind in mobile Internet use

The Netherlands is leading in all areas when it comes to digitization in Europe, but lags behind the rest in mobile Internet.

This is evident from the first comparison of European Member States based on the Digital Agenda by the European Commission, reports telecom regulator Opta on Thursday.

,, Mobile Internet lags behind the European average and is obviously still in development”, according to Opta.

Netherlands has the highest broadband penetration of the European member states, 91 percent of households and businesses have broadband via a fixed network and the network is fast. More than half of the connections have a speed of more than 10 MB per second.

Dutch are also heavy users of their high speed networks, 88 percent of the Dutch have every week online and 76 percent are even daily online.

In other European countries are more than 26% of people ever on the Internet in the Netherlands to a humble 8 percent.

It should come as no surprise that the Netherlands has a leading position in the use of Internet services, like online shopping. ,,

The Netherlands is in addition to online shopping is also very active in e-government.”
