Paracetamol on prescription only
An acute overdose of paracetamol is most of the time the cause of fatal liver damage. There for the medicine should only be available on a medical prescription bases.
According to research leader Ali Canbay, a doctor must make a echography of the liver before paracetamol are prescribed.
Annemiek Horikx, apothecary of the medicine information centre from apothecary organisation KNMP, supports that Paracetamol should be supplied on prescription only. She indicates that many pain-killers which belong to the group of the NSAID’s such as Ibuprofen are available over-the-counter. Those can already give flatulence problems at a normal dosis.
