Pizza.com sold for 1.5 million

A 43-year-old American has sold the domain name pizza.com for more than 1.5 million euro. He bought the domain in 1994, for only 13 euro. Chris Clark offered the site for sale a week ago. The first offer was only 65 euro.

“it is crazy, too crazy”, according to Clark. “this will certainly change my life.”

Clark had a consultancy firm in 1994. At that time he wanted to try to do business with a pizza firm. The American sold its firm in 2000, but continued to pay for the annual costs of 13 euro for the domain name.

Recently Clark heard that the domain name vodka.com, had been sold for almost 2 millions in 2006. “I thought, why don’t I try to see if there is interest for my domain?’”. Clark said he regrets that he did not buy more domain names in the nineties.

The buyer of pizza.com is unknown.
