Segways allowed by new Dutch law
Dutch are allowed from July 1st to enter traffic on a Segway. They can drive maximum 30 kilometres per hour on the two-wheeled, self-balancing scooters. Furthermore they must clearly be identified and have the same insurance obligations as other vehicles.
This was announced by ministers Ernst Hirsch Ballin (justice) and Camiel Eurlings (traffic) on Friday in a letter to the Government. A majority in parliament insisted already long time ago to approved new rules that will allow Segway in traffic, but they are fighting heavy resistance from the government.

Any government entity, or individuals who think the Segway Transporter should be banned from public streets and public thoroughfares needs to have their head examined.
It reminds me of opposition to the automobile
in the days of the horse and buggy. It is absurd opposition to useful, safe, modern technology.
