Seven European tunnels unsafe
The safety of at least seven European tunnels is bad. According to a research of the ANWB and the European sister organisations.
The motorist organisations investigated the safety of 31 tunnels in Europe. Ten tunnels scored ‘ very well ‘, five were rated ‘ well ‘, seven were rated ‘ good ‘ and two were ‘ not good ‘.
Of the seven bad tunnels the lowest results are from Italy. Three of the five examined tunnels are bad. In Norway all three tested tunnels were bad. Also a Belgian tunnel was proved unsafe. In these tunnels there was no automatic fire alarm, insufficient emergency exits.
