Anonymous exposes Dutch users Credit card info

Hacker collective Anonymous has just exposed 300 names, email addresses and passwords and Credit Card Data for around 300 Dutch users.

Anonymous, the group of hackers, announced that they had broken into the servers of the defense intelligence organization Stratfor. Despite Anonymous’ belief in a vast military-industrial-government conspiracy, Stratfor is merely a think tank that researches and reports on global hot spots and events.

It is unknown whether Anonymous gained access to other, more sensitive information during the Stratfor hacks, which occurred on December 24.

The time for talk is over,” Anonymous wrote last night on Pastebin.

“It’s time to dump the full 75,000 names, addresses, CCs and md5 hashed passwords to every customer that has ever paid Stratfor. But that’s not all: we’re also dumping ~860,000 usernames, email addresses, and md5 hashed passwords for everyone who’s ever registered on Stratfor’s site… Did you notice 50,000 of these email addresses are .mil and .gov?”

One of the victims would be Dutch MP Marcial Hernandez from PVV.

Sailing Girl Laura Dekker Computers Hacked

The computers of sailing girl Laura Dekker and her father are regularly compromised, making them completely crash, they reported to the police.

This was reported the weblog of Laura. The 15-year-old Laura would like to be the youngest solo sailor ever to sail around the world. In early August she left for the trip from the Netherlands.

The hacking occurs despite securing their computers with all security programs up-dated.

Hacking takes place mainly during departure and arrival of Laura on the various islands.

Sometimes recovery is not possible anymore and she needs to purchase a new computer. There are considerable costs involved.

Her school work depends on a good internet and e-mail connection. She also needs the Internet for information she receives from her support team.

On her blog she asks the hacker to stop with his “perverse activities”.

Dutch hacker accesses jailbroken iPhones apologizes

Running a jailbroken iPhone has its risks, as a Dutch young hacker has demonstrated. Specifically, he used a bit of port scanning to find jailbroken phones with SSH running in the Netherlands. From there, he sent unsuspecting users a message that reads, “Your iPhone’s been hacked because it’s really insecure! Please visit doiop.com/iHacked and secure your iPhone right now! Right now, I can access all your files.”

The URL directs the users to Paypal and requests €5 in exchange for instructions that explain how to remove the hack. But how did he get in? By relying on users’ forgetfulness. All iPhones have a default root password. Those who forget to change it are vulnerable to this very kind of attack.

It appears the young hacker has had a change of heart on the money issue, and posted instructions for undoing what he did to several Dutch iPhone users. According to a commenter below, he has also apologized for asking for money and returned whatever ill-gotten gains he received from his stunt. However, that doesn’t mean someone else couldn’t pull the same trick and just not tell you about it. If you jailbreak and do things like leave an SSH daemon running, change the default passwords.
