Beyond the balcony overlooking the expansive Main Concourse, the Apple Store Grand Central offers rooms dedicated to some of our most popular services, including the largest area in the world dedicated to Personal Setup. In the Personal Setup room, customers who buy an iPad®, iPhone, iPod® or Mac® can get up and running before they leave the store. There’s also a room designed especially for Personal Training, where new Mac owners learn the basics or take their skills to the next level as part of Apple’s popular $99 One to One program.

Holiday shoppers in Manhattan now have five unique Apple stores to choose from, each perfectly suited to the neighborhoods they serve: Fifth Avenue, Upper West Side, SoHo, West 14th Street and Grand Central. Around the world, nearly 300 million people have visited Apple retail stores in the past 12 months. There are 361 Apple stores in eleven countries including the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, China, Australia and Canada.

The Apple Store Grand Central is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

5 Dutch Days is a five day cultural event which takes place in New York City every November. It celebrates the continuous influence of Dutch arts and culture in New York City and brings together arts and cultural organizations from across the city. Programs include walking tours, lectures, concerts and contemporary art offerings.

It begun in May of 2005, when three directors of Dutch-American sites in New York City (Sean Sawyer, Felicia Mayro, Susan De Vries) first began discussing the possibility of a collaborative effort to mark Dutch-American Heritage Day and the continuous influence of Dutch culture in New York City. That small idea grew into a wonderful annual event.

5 Dutch Days is celebrated in all five boroughs. New York City, one of the largest cities in the world, is segmented into five boroughs; The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island.

Brooklyn’s part in this event commences at 6:00 this Thursday evening, November 12, at Borough Hall, with a welcome from Borough President Marty Markowitz, and a preview of the HOME/LAND art project, a portion of which will be at the Old Stone House this weekend.

Thursday’s festivities then move to the Brooklyn Historical Society, Pierrepont and Clinton, for a viewing of Pages of the Past: The Breukelen Adventures of Jasper Danckaerts.

Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima were in the lobby of the skyscraper the orange lights ignited the occasion of their visit to the city.

The royal visit to the skyscraper was the end of a busy day of the royal couple in New York City. Willem-Alexander and Máxima are the entire week in the Big Apple to celebrate the VOC-four hundred years ago, Captain Henry Hudson in his ship the Halve Maen was anchored in Manhattan.

The Empire State Building was build in 1931 and was the tallest building in New York build untill the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Since the destruction of the Twin Towers on September 11, the Empire State Building is again the highest skyscraper in the city.
