The solar car from the Dutch university TU Delft finished …

The solar car from the Dutch university TU Delft finished second in the World Solar Challenge in Australia. The Dutch students lost from the Japanese team.

The World Solar Challenge is a race of 3010 kilometers from Darwin to Adelaide for cars that run on solar energy. The race began Sunday and after the first day the Japanese lead the race with their car, deTokai Challenger. The Dutch Nuon Solar Team from Delft won the last four World Solar Challenge races.

A spokeswoman said that although the team did not win the race is delighted: “With a crash just before the race we were just in time for the race. We therefore had insufficient time for the final tests, which showed that during the race not all the solar panels supplied energy. The second place is therefore an achievement and we are very happy. ”

Also another team from the Netherlands of the University of Twente and the Saxion Hogeschool, 21Revolution. This team despite a crash finished eleventh.
