Google has captured and collected the addresses and locations of …

Google has captured and collected the addresses and locations of 3.6 million wireless routers in the Netherlands between 2008 and 2010, without the user’s knowledge.

The data from open wi-fi networks was gathered while Google Street View cars roamed the Netherlands from 2008 – 2010 taking photographs.

Information about the location of those wi-fi networks was intended to be used to improve the location finding ability of Street View and other Google services.

The Dutch Personal Data Protection Board finds that Google should inform the Wi-Fi routers users to give them the chance to oppose the processing of this data and to destroy the information. If Google does not, then the CBP imposes a fine of up to 1 million Euros, announced the College on Tuesday.

The addresses (MAC addresses) of routers and their locations have been collected without the knowledge of users. These addresses are combined with their location data, according to CBP, because they can provide information about the owner of the wifi router. Google gathered information from secured and unsecured routers.

In a statement, Google’s, wrote: “We are profoundly sorry for having mistakenly collected payload data from unencrypted wi-fi networks.”

Google recently has been hit with a fine by France’s privacy watchdog CNIL over the personal data it mistakenly gathered when setting up Street View.

The Dutch College Data Protection (CBP) are investigating Google Inc. …

The Dutch College Data Protection (CBP) are investigating Google Inc. on suspicion of violating privacy laws by recording fragments of people’s online activities through unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

This internet giant has recently admitted that it had been inadvertently storing fragments of people’s online activities without authorization over the past four years while expanding its mapping feature, Street View.

The College is working together with colleagues from Belgium, Germany and Spain. The U.S. Internet giant has come under fire from authorities across Europe, where strict privacy laws regulate how much of citizens’ personal details may be released or shared without consent. Suspicion that Google was showing too much in its attempts to provide detailed online maps has been aggravated by the breach, noticed by German authorities.

In London, Britain’s Information Commissioner’s Office joined Germany in calling for Google to destroy the data, although it said it was unlikely that anything more than fragments of data had been collected.

Google began to include data with commercial vehicles that were taking pictures for Google Street View, a website that links to images of street maps. When the German authorities investigated the information collected by the vehicles, they found that sensitive information was obtained from the ether. It might include shared data such as emails, photos or visited websites.

Google has admitted that it was wrong. The problem allegedly caused by the use of faulty software and has since been rectified according to the company.

The Internet company Google is going to expand Google street …

The Internet company Google is going to expand Google street view coverage for the Netherlands significantly.

Dutch Residents of The Hague, Utrecht and Eindhoven will be able to see their home on Google Street View soon.

With Street View users can see street level details on Google maps. The company has photographed almost all streets in and around thirty cities in the Netherlands.

The photos can be viewed by dragging a yellow icon on google map and look around.

In March, Google launched Street View, in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Groningen. Now also Utrecht, Den Haag, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, Tilburg and Leeuwarden will be included. The Randstad is almost fully covered.

Of the 21 Dutch cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, only Enschede and Maastricht are available at the moment.

The amazing 114 pounds tricycle from Google is limited to visit only a number of places, because it’s taking a lot of time to shoot good photos. Earlier this year a number of major tourist attractions such as the Efteling and Slagharen were captured.

These photos are not yet processed yet and only the windmills at Kinderdijk and Parliament Buildings are viewable on Street View at the moment.

The Netherlands will be visited by the Google Street View Trikes team this summer.

The American Internet company Google will get on the google bike next month to be able to shoot images of Dutch tourist attractions in the Netherlands.

The images will be included in google Street View, an Internet application that enables users of Google Maps to view streets in all neighborhoods including Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Google Netherlands has a month with a special bike from the United States especialy designed to take pictures of surroundings where it’s to difficult for cars to drive. The company expects to take images of three Dutch attractions and currently offer Internet users to vote.

On a list that is compiled by the Netherlands Tourist Board, are attractions such as; the Binnenhof, the Efteling, the Apenheul and Palace Het Loo.

The amazing 114 pounds tricycle from Google is limited to visit only a number of places, because it’s taking a lot of time to shoot good photos. Much depends on the weather. It should not be cloudy and rain is not good, according to a spokesman for the Internet company.

In March this year, Google introduced the first Dutch imagery for Google Street View. In addition to Amsterdam and Rotterdam are images of Groningen, Zaandam and Volendam in 360 degrees on the Internet to see.

Recently cars from Google have also visited Den Haag, Haarlem, Hoorn and Deventer, but according to the spokesman of the company it may still take some months before the photos are online.

The same will apply to the images of the most popular tourist attractions. All captured faces and number plates will be obscured.

Netherlands Tourist Board in collaboration with Google provides a list of beautiful and special locations in the Netherlands, and you can choose which will be visited by the Street View Trikes team.

Vote now for your favorite location, and fingers crossed for good weather! Voting is possible until Monday, July 27.
