Truckers to Protest Over Record Diesel Prices
Under the motto ' De maat is vol, de tank is leeg' (It's enough, the tank is empty) Dutch transport organizations TLN and EVO recalls to a national protest against the rising diesel prices. Lorry drivers and other road users will honk there horns on Thursday at 11.45 in the whole country three times.
At that time TLN and EVO wants to hand over a petition to the government on the square in The Hague. Reason for the action is „the extreme increase of the already high diesel prices and the imminent tax charge for the transport and logistical sector, thus the organisations.
„The coincidence of the price increases and the imminent cabinet measures leads to big problems in the Dutch transport and logistical sector and to many emotions at companies. With the action day TLN and EVO wants to put pressure on the government for not carrying out the fuel tax increase by 1st July 2008.
EVO and TLN will place Thursday on eleven locations in the Netherlands signboards with the message: ' It's enough, the tank is empty! honk your horns, for lower fuel tax! '.
