Truckparking Rotterdam officially opened

On 25 September 2012, the Dutch Minister of Security and Justice, Ivo Opstelten, officially opened Truckparking Rotterdam. This took place at the Waalhaven Truck Parking Area on the Beatrix de Rijkstraat, where 124 parking places are available. Truckparking Rotterdam includes another two secure parking areas in the Botlek – at the Distripark and at Restaurant de Punt, each with 85 parking places.

Truckparking Rotterdam is in line with the efforts of the Port Authority to create a safe and efficient port. It offers a safe and comfortable resting area for cargo and drivers, with Wi-Fi, camera surveillance, security, relaxation area and sanitary facilities. The first subscriptions have already been sold. A subscription costs € 1,980 per truck per year. Daytime parking for trucks is free of charge. Between 6.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m. the hourly fee is € 1, with a maximum of € 10 per night.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority has appointed PCH Dienstengroep to manage the truck parking areas. The municipality of Rotterdam has now commenced an enforcement policy, and trucks may no longer just rest anywhere in the port of Rotterdam.
