Turnover Dutch manufacturing industry down
Dutch manufacturers faced a nearly 3 percent turnover loss in June 2012 relative to June 2011 according to Statistics Netherlands. Sales on the domestic market declined more than sales on the foreign markets. The working-day and holiday pattern was more favourable in June 2012 than in June 2011.This had a positive effect on sales of approximately 4 percent.
The growth of manufacturing output gradually slackened over the past twelve months and has turned into decline in May. This was largely attributable to a slowdown in the increase of selling prices in manufacturing industry since the summer of 2011. In June 2012, prices of manufactured products were more than 1 percent up from one year previously.
Manufacturing turnover declined nearly across the board. The sectors food, drinks and tobacco and basis metal products faced the most substantial losses.
